Canmore (population 12,000 full-time residents) is situated just one hour west of
Calgary and just 5 minutes from the East Gate of Banff National Park.
Canmore is a unique, outgoing, energetic mountain town with a community
spirit second to none. The Festival has been around since 1978, with
years of the sort of volunteerism that made the nordic skiing events of
the 1988 winter Olympics - hosted by Canmore - an international hit.
Canmore loves to share itself and its environment with others and the
Festival provides a perfect opportunity. Visitors are quick to recognize
there is indeed something very warm and special about the Festival and the
place - and it brings them back year after year.
The Festival is held in
Centennial Park in downtown Canmore - just two
blocks off Main Street and within walking distance of all you need:
hotels/motels, stores, restaurants, medical/dental clinics, hospital,
museum, many wonderful in-town trails, and more.
