Dr Shellie Morris & Uncle Kutcha Edwards

About

Dr Shellie Morris AO (Yanyuwa & Wardaman) and Kutcha Edwards (Mutti Mutti, Yorta Yorta, Nari Nari) are two of Australia’s leading First Nations voices, songkeepers, and truth-tellers.

Together, they share songs and stories grounded in the lived realities of First Nations peoples in Australia; carrying histories of resilience, survival, and cultural strength in the face of colonisation, displacement, and ongoing injustice. Their work speaks to deep connections to Country, community, and culture, while honouring the knowledge and traditions that continue to guide future generations.

Kutcha Edwards, a Songman and survivor of the Stolen Generations, has been combining songwriting and activism since the 1990s. His deeply personal work reflects a journey of loss, reconnection, and healing—transforming lived experience into powerful songs that create space for truth, understanding, and belonging.
Dr Shellie Morris is a multi-award-winning songwriter whose work spans English and Aboriginal languages, grounded in her commitment to cultural preservation and intergenerational knowledge sharing. Her music carries the voices of community, strengthening language, identity, and connection through song.
Together, they invite audiences to gather as if around a campfire, fusing music, storytelling, humour, and honesty in an interactive shared experience. Some stories are deeply painful, some are joyful, all are part of a powerful truth-telling journey that offers connection, reflection, and a deeper understanding of Australia’s First Nations cultures.
