Strings have always been the connective tissue of folk music, the through-line between traditions, generations, and cultures. This workshop brings together three acts who approach the string band format from vastly different angles: the clawhammer banjo and fiddle mastery of Allison de Groot & Tatiana Hargreaves; the slide guitar wizardry and Americana storytelling of Steve Dawson; and the boundary-defying fiddling of Morgan Toney, who weaves the Celtic traditions of Cape Breton with centuries-old Mi'kmaq songs. Different strings, different stories, one conversation.
