Position Title: Volunteer & Marketing Assistant
Reports To: Communications Manager
Employment Term: Seasonal Full-Time Contract (8 weeks, 35 hrs a week)
Hourly Wage: $20/hour (Canada Summer Jobs funded position)

Position Overview:

The Volunteer & Marketing Assistant is an entry-level role that provides vital support to the Communications Manager. you will help recruit volunteers, manage all volunteer applications, support our volunteer coordinators, and help run the social media channels for the Canmore Folk Festival. Working closely with the Communications Manager, you will gain valuable experience in event coordination while contributing to a welcoming and inclusive volunteer program, and gain experience in creating and implementing marketing assets.

Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Communication:
  • Assist with promoting volunteer opportunities through social media, email, and local networks.
  • Respond to volunteer inquiries and provide information about available roles.
Volunteer Database Management:
  • Help sort the volunteer applications and maintain a volunteer database.
Volunteer Support:
  • Assist in preparing volunteer materials, such as registration and what to bring guides.
  • Be on-site during volunteer registration (August 1, 2025)
  • Be present on-site during the festival to support the volunteer registration team, answer questions, and address any issues.
Post-Festival Wrap-Up:
  • Help gather feedback from volunteers and contribute to a post-event report.
  • Assist with organizing a volunteer appreciation initiative.
Help Create Content for Social Media: 
  • Create and schedule engaging posts across platforms
  • Monitor social media trends
  • Capture and share live content during events
  • Support overall brand voice and messaging consistency

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Enthusiastic, friendly, and eager to learn.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, etc.).
  • Previous volunteer experience is a bonus but not required.
  • Previous experience running social media accounts is a bonus but not required.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must meet the Canada Summer Jobs eligibility criteria:
    • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
    • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred.
    • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment.
